Organise your own event at CREA!

CREA offers students the chance to organise their own events on Monday nights. Starting in academic year 2024-2025, CREA will introduce Student Mondays. Faithful CREA visitors will recognise this format from CREA debates, but since we want to facilitate more than just debates, it’s time for a new name!

Do you have a great idea for an event? All sorts of things can be organised at a Student Monday, whether you represent a student organisation or are an individual student with a great idea, at CREA you get the chance to bring your plans to life. More info and a form to apply below!

What does CREA offer?

On Mondays, CREA offers special support for students with a good idea:

  • Free hall rental: CREA will make the theatre hall available at no rental cost if your idea is approved.
  • Technical support: An experienced all-round technician will be present during the event.
  • Promotional support: CREA can help promote your event.
  • Social Media: Your event will be featured in our Instagram Stories for extra visibility.

Conditions for participation

  • Target group: the event you want to organise needs to be for students.
  • Free entry: the event is free of charge unless explicitly agreed otherwise with staff member CREA.
  • Inclusive: CREA wants to be an organisation where everyone should be able to feel comfortable.
  • Cost and budget: CREA sponsors the venue and the technician. If there are other costs involved in organising your event (think of payment of speakers, paying copyrights or promoting your event online), those costs are for the event initiator.
To cover budget deficits, an application can also be made to the CREA fund. Please note here that there are only 2 application moments per year.
  • Deadlines:
    • Application: at least 6 weeks in advance, but the earlier the more likely you are to be considered!
    • Information and PR: you are responsible for for composing a promotional description and making a poster/image for the event. Deliver this no later than 4 weeks in advance.
  • Commitment: CREA dedicates resources to give a stage to new initiatives. In return, we expect the organising party to put time and energy into organising the event. So think carefully in advance about whether you have time to organise an entire event in addition to your busy student life.

Examples

What kind of event then? In previous years, CREA already organised numerous events in collaboration with student organisations under the name CREA debate. From academic year 2024-2025 these will also become part of Student Mondays, these are examples of those events:

  • CIA lectures by SIB-Amsterdam (Dutch United Nations Student Association)
  • Dutch Movie Nights by Erasmus Student Network Amsterdam (ESN)
  • Clothes Swap by Particolarte, AEGEE, ASVA and Students for Sustainability Amsterdam (SFSA)
