Please note: applications for drums and piano have been put on hold (19-1-2021)
Have you always wanted to play in a jazzband? In this course you will be learning to play together and improvise with fellow musicians. We have room for all instrumentalists who want to improvise: drums, guitar, piano, bass, wind instruments and singers. Existing jazz bands are also welcome (read further below).
What will you be doing?
We will be playing well-known jazz standards, but lesser known and jazz-related pieces are also covered. There will also be opportunities to bring pieces of music yourself.
Attention is paid to instruments such as instrument exploration, soloing, phrasing, timing, dynamics, sound, form retention, diagrams and basic theory. You will also work on expanding your jazz repertoire.
The course is set up in such a way that you can play at the level that suits you best. To this effect, the teacher will put you into a group in advance (see registration procedure). You are expected to do homework at home and – if necessary – practice parts.
You are able to read notes and you have sufficient chord knowledge. Pianists must have knowledge of seventh chords. Of course, you are expected to be present at all lessons.
1) To participate, first fill in the questionnaire.
2) Applicants will receive further information about the preliminary procedure later. The preliminary session was originally planned in CREA on Wednesday, February 3nd at 7 p.m. but cannot take place because CREA will still be closed.
The band classes will take place on Wednesday from 17:30-19:30 and from 20:00-22:00. Which band you are assigned to depends on your instrument and level. If there are too many registrations, you may not be able to be placed.
Registration and pay
You can only pay if you have been placed in a group by the teachers after the practice session (see above). From that moment on, it will be possible to pay via this webpage. The payment for the course must be made before the first course meeting.
