In this course, we will draw lots and lots to explore some of the Surrealist ‘methods’ to free our imagination and to produce a creative process free of?conscious?control.?
With intriguing names like Bulletism, Cubomania, Dream résumé, Entopic graphomania, and Frottage, the Surrealists emphasize the importance of the?subconscious?as a source of inspiration.
What will you be doing?
The heart of the course is Cadavre Exquis. This method is based on a children’s game that is played all over the world and the Surrealists gave it its illustrious name. The playful drawings that have emerged from it give an impression of the zeitgeist of the turbulent years between the two world wars in the beginning of the last century. We will be drawing a lot according to this and other Surrealist methods & styles!
A small selection of Cadavre Exquis works can be seen in CREA Café and some of the results of this course will be added to that.
