What does it take to create a good photo portrait? What defines a portrait and what kind of portrait photography exists in the world? What do I want to show in a portrait and how do I get the photo that shows what I want? You will receive an answer to these questions this week.
You learn about the use of existing- and flashlight, about composition, your own style/signature and direction. The interaction between photographer and model plays an important role. Which setting location or studio photography suits you best? The creative use of available resources and the selfie as a serious portrait form are also discussed.
What will you be doing?
You will start the day by looking at and discussing the work of inspiring portrait photographers. Through this you will learn what choices you will have to make when shooting a good portrait photo. With this inspiration in mind, you will set out to make your own pictures and the results will be discussed in the group. You will also learn how to optimise and edit your photo’s. By making a lot of portraits and discussing them as group, you will discover the possibilities and make great strides in your prowess!

A good basic knowledge of photography (shutter speeds, aperture, iso-values and white balance) and control of your manually adjustable digital camera are required.
To take this course, you must have an SLR or compact camera on which you can manually set aperture, shutter speed and ISO values.
