This course is part of the summer 2024 course programme. Registration is unfortunately no longer possible. The programme for summer 2025 will be published online in April 2025.
This course is intended for anyone looking for freedom in dance. House is a perfect tool for this! This dance style/culture originated in American clubs (Chicago and New York) and among minority groups in society. They found their freedom in Dance/House music and so the dance House was born.
What will we be doing?
The content of this course contains basics of dance (such as the Jack) and other tools to play with and improvise. The improvisation takes place on its own and also together in the room. We will start with a guided warm-up in which we can individually enter our bodies and connect with the music. Later in the day we will discuss different forms of ‘jamming’ (exchanging), such as 1 on 1 and cyphering (sharing in a group by means of a dance circle). All this is done through improvisation/freestyle.
House is a social dance, so the exchange and connection with each other is an important aspect. The goal is to jointly create a safe space in which dance is shared in an open, supportive and playful way. Let’s celebrate life together.
