Please note: in Block 2 – Winter, the Thursday 17:30-18:45 class will be taught by Samantha van den Doel instead of Cleo Kwaaitaal.
During this course you will get acquainted with the basic elements of classical ballet-techniques. The main focus will be placement.
What will you be doing?
You will work on correcting your posture by way of groundwork, specific coordination of arms and legs, and developing a sense of direction through space and paying attention to rhythm and music. By combining these different movement qualities, you will be challenged to explore your limits and, above all, achieve joy in dance.
Cleo Kwaaitaal’s classes
Cleo Kwaaitaal has had a 12-year dance career as a classical/modern dancer. The Israel Ballet is one of the companies where she danced in The Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker and Coppelia, among others. She has also danced in the Netherlands in choreographies by Balanchine, Hans van Manen and Ted Brandsen. It is therefore natural for Cleo to transfer this knowledge and help students further their development in classical dance.
Pascale de la Fuente’s classes
Pascale de la Fuente trained at the Theaterschool AHK in Amsterdam. She was a modern dancer and has danced in productions by several contemporary choreographers. Pascale is also a choreographer of modern theatre dance pieces. Recurring themes in all her classes are the musicality and energy of movement and raising awareness of the organic connection of dance. Seeking the flow of movement is important to experience the sensation of dance.
