Come dance along with one of our choreography projects of the dance project Moving Into Focus! Under the guidance of one of our choreographers, that each have their own personal style and background, in 15 or 20 weeks you will be working towards a dance act that will be performing three times in the CREA Theatre.
Urban Contemporary (choreographer: Céline Procureur)
The choreography project by Céline works with a specific theme each year. This acts as inspiration for type of music and causes the dancing styles, such as urban, modern jazz and contemporary to alternate depending on what the music indicates! During the classes you will be learning the choreographies, but you will also learn to create and play with your own material through different assignments. By brainstorming about themes, fitting ambience, dance moves, music and outfits together, you will be learning much more about creating a choreography beyond just moving to a beat.
Level
This project is aimed at those who are of intermediate or advanced level of modern jazz. If you have a different dancing background but are open to different styles, you are also welcome.
Modern (choreographer: Anastasia Kostner)
Anastasia works with a specific topic during the 20-week long making process, which acts as inspiration for guided improvisations and composition techniques that create the choreography. By considering different performance elements every week, as for example contemporary dance styles, spacial awareness, costumes and decor, musicality and theatricality, we are developing the piece from many perspectives. The topic, as well as the creation processes will be interactive and reflect the interests of the group. Within this choreographic playground you will combine dynamic movement with sensory alertness and individual creativity and learn how to create a collective performance.
Level
This project is aimed at those who are of intermediate or advanced level of modern dance. If you have a different dancing background but are open to different styles, you are also welcome.
Classical/Modern (choreographer: Pascale de la Fuente)
Pascale makes use of the lexicon of classical dance and modern dance during the 20 weeks of the Classical/modern Choreography Project. To get to know her group she will start off with improvisational exercises using her own material for movement, but she also uses dancing material of other dancers. This will happen both individually and in groups. Here she will address specific themes and ambiences. Eventually you will be working with movement material that fits the group best. The input of the dancers plays a large part in the realisation of the choreography.
Level
This project is aimed at those who are of intermediate or advanced level of classical or modern dance. It will not be required to have experience doing improvisation exercises, though you will need to experience working with this method as somewhat of a challenge in order to develop your own language of movement.
