Come dance along with one of our choreography projects of the dance project Moving Into Focus! Under the guidance of one of our choreographers, that each have their own personal style and background, you will be working towards a dance act that will be performing three times in the CREA Theatre.
Please note: Because of the continuing lockdown CREA is still closed. The choreopraphy project will therefore start online. As soon as CREA is allowed to open it’s doors, rehearsals will take place in de CREA studios. By registering for a choreography project on February 25 2021 or later, you declare that you are aware of an online start of the course and agree to this condition.
Modern (choreographer: Sandra Kramerova)
In the choreography project by Sandra you will focus on making dance material together considering a different performance element every week. Inspired by floor work, athleticism, physical theatricality, space, time, gesture, contact and text, you will work in groups and individually on solos, duets and trios. Tapping into the imagination through guided improvisations and techniques of composition, you will create a choreography reflecting the interests of the group. Within this choreographic playground you will combine dynamic movement with sensory alertness and individual creativity.
Access level
This project is aimed at those who are of intermediate or advanced level of modern dance. If you have a different dancing background but are open to different styles, you are also welcome.
Urban Contemporary (choreographer: Céline Procureur)
The choreography project by Céline works with a specific theme each year. This acts as inspiration for type of music and causes the dancing styles, such as urban, jazz and modern to alternate depending on what the music indicates! During the classes you will be learning the choreographies, but you will also be working by yourselves. By brainstorming about themes, fitting ambience, dance moves, music and outfits together, you will be learning much more about producing a performance beyond just moving to a beat.
Access level
This project is aimed at those who are of intermediate or advanced level of modern jazz. If you have a different dancing background but are open to different styles, you are also welcome.
Classical/Modern (choreographer: Pascale de la Fuente)
Pascale makes use of the lexicon of classical dance and modern dance. To get to know her group she will start off with improvisational exercises using her own material for movement, but she also uses dancing material of other dancers. This will happen both individually and in groups. Here she will address specific themes and ambiences. Eventually you will be working with movement material that fits the group best. The input of the dancers plays a large part in the realisation of the choreography.
Access level
This project is aimed at those who are of intermediate or advanced level of classical or modern dance. It will not be required to have experience doing improvisation exercises, though you will need to experience working with this method as somewhat of a challenge in order to develop your own language of movement.
