Painting is a bit like sorcery. The magic of colour and paint can enrapture you. The power of the personal touch of the material, the hand of the master, can take you away and immerse you in the creator’s ideas, vision, and imagination. Of course, painting is difficult, but engaging in it gives you a sense of freedom. By fiddling with the paint and mixing the colours, you develop your skill and learn to look. This opens doors to develop your imagination and your own ideas.
What will we be doing?
In these ten lessons, we will work with two types of water colours. Acrylic paint, with which you can endlessly apply thin but also very thick layers, and gouache, a paint that flows and blends and makes the brilliant colours glow whether transparent or very opaque. We will work on different assignments within which there is always a technical skill to be discovered. We will study model and portrait painting and sometimes a still life, and we work based on self-made photos and our own ideas.
We will learn to mix colours and discover light and shadow. We will work on small and large formats. With brushes with a tip, large brushes, fingers, rags, and sponges.
