During our ceramics course (in Dutch: Toegepaste Keramiek), we will create a variety of functional pieces by working with different types of clay, including red, white and black. We will glaze our ceramics with a range of glazes, both transparent and opaque, with glossy and matt finishes, and with different colours. All your creations will be fired in the ceramic kiln, making them durable and usable.
This course draws inspiration from the rich history of art, especially from works found in the Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum. Examples include Yixing terracotta teapots, Loosdrecht porcelain, Royal Delft paintings and the avant-garde art collection. These masterpieces will serve as inspiration throughout the course and will enhance your understanding of ceramic art and its historical significance.
At the end of the course, you will have a collection of beautiful ceramics made by you, ready to be used in your kitchen at home.
