Sander Heezen (1964) studied photography at the academie St. Joost in Breda (1993) and followed this with a year of studying graphic design.
During his two-year-long specialisation-period at the Fine Arts department of the Jan van Eijckacademie in Maastricht (1996), Sander created various exhibitions, in which his free photography works, video and audio-installations were the salient elements.
Sander won the Kodak Professional Portraid Award (1998/1999). He has been working as a freelancer in Amsterdam since 2004, and works as a report-photographer, a portrait-photographer and a picture editor for numerous national newspapers and magazines.
Making reportages and also many portrait assignments are Sander’s line of work. Teaching photography is also a great passion and he has been doing that since 1997, preferably to people who have little or no experience with it.
