Christiaan den Dulk

Christiaan den Dulk

Bio:

Christiaan den Dulk graduated from the AHK’s Theatre Teacher Training Programme in 2013. He was a permanent member of De Theatertroep for several years, while also developing as an independent theatre maker and teacher. He taught at various schools, created performances for Theater Na de Dam and made adaptations of classical theatre texts such as Ifigeneia in Aulis and Medea. His performances are often text-based, from Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot in a South African townshop, to a montage of Alex van Warmerdam’s work at an Amsterdam grammar school.
Christiaan is a regular theatre teacher at Het 4e Gymnasium. There, he gives theatre lessons to young people aged 13 to 19. From elementary acting to playing from the works of Stanislavski, Brecht or Albee. In guiding and directing play, he looks for the richness in the text, to maximise his players’ repertoire. Not how should this text be, but what can be done with this text? Because play is not called play for nothing; after control comes freedom.
