In this course, you will learn to sculpt ceramic pieces for outdoor gardens and windowsills, including sculptures, plant pots, and other garden-related forms. The ceramic studio is ours for the whole week, and you can come with your own ideas — whether you prefer to work on one piece for all five days, create many smaller works, or even make other ceramics such as cups and teapots for your home, it’s entirely up to you.
What will we be doing?
We will work with different clays and textures, drawing inspiration from botanical elements to enrich the surfaces. You’ll have access to a wide range of ceramic pigments and underglazes to colour your pieces.
Along the way, you’ll be introduced to a variety of hand-building and sculpting techniques, giving you a solid, practical foundation in ceramics.
In addition to the week, you will come back one afternoon at the end of summer to glaze your fired works.
