This course is part of the summer 2024 course programme. Registration is unfortunately no longer possible. The programme for summer 2025 will be published online in April 2025.
This week you will go out with your sketchbook. When you draw and paint for yourself, the possibilities are endless. What materials will you use? Where will you work? What is your subject and how will you get it on paper? A sketchbook is the perfect place to start your research; everything can come together there, including texts, examples for inspiration, material research, sketches and detailed drawings.
The exciting part is that both the ‘good’ and ‘failed’ drawings and paintings all come together. That gives you the opportunity to go back and forth and compare to see what went wrong in the beginning, but has improved now. In this way, your own development becomes visible.
What will we be doing?
In the morning, we will meet at CREA in the studio. Here you try out different materials and technical possibilities. In the afternoon, you’ll use your new knowledge for another assignment outside. This can be in a park, along the IJ, or at another outdoor location.
