Have you always wanted to play in a band? In this popband course you will learn to play along with other participants. Existing bands are welcomed too.
What will you be doing?
You will spend time practicing the controlling your instrument, phrasing, timing, arranging, singing and background singing. If there is a demand for musical theory and harmonising, it will also be covered in class. You will practice a repertoire after which the students will choose which style(s) they would like to use. Original songs are welcomed too. After 12 weeks you will be playing along with a band on stage!
Preliminary playing
Prior to dividing up the bands we will be organizing a preliminary playing session. This preliminary session will take place on Tuesday evening September 8th 2026 for the courses starting in the week of September 21st 2026.
How well you play, and the type of instrument will determine which band you will be grouped together with. You will receive a message one week after the preliminary playing session announcing whether you were placed.
Registration procedure.
1) To participate, first fill in the questionnaire Popband Please note that you must pay a down payment of €15 via the link at the end of the questionnaire.
2) Applicants will receive further information about the preliminary procedure later. The practice evening – to determine which band you might (!) be assigned to – for the course starting on 21 September is Tuesday evening 8 September 2026.
The band classes will take place on Mondays from 18:00-20:00 & 20:15-22:15 and Tuesdays 18:00-20:00 & 20:15-22:15. Which band you are assigned to depends on your instrument and level. If there are too many registrations, you may not be able to be placed.
Registration and pay
You can only pay the full amount for the course once you have been placed in a group by the teacher after the practice session (see above). From that moment on, it will be possible to pay via this webpage. The payment for the course must be made before the first course meeting. If you can’t be placed in a band you will receive a refund of your down payment.
