Please note! For summer week courses, registrations close at 12:00 on the Monday before the start of the course (one week before the start). It is then decided whether the course has enough participants to go ahead. So, make sure to register on time!
Always wanted to sculpt, but never had a chisel in your hand? Or just feel like sharpening your skills? In this summer course, we dive into the world of stone for five days. You will learn to work with hammer and chisel, practise various techniques and discover how to transform a rough stone into your own sculpture.
What will you be doing?
We start with a clay sketch: a small preliminary study in which you give spatial form to your idea. Then you will learn step by step how to carve a sculpture from soft limestone. You practise basic skills such as carving, grating and polishing, and gain insight into how to build a sculpture from coarse to fine.
In between, we delve into inspiring examples of famous stone sculptors. With personal guidance and plenty of room for your own input, you will work towards your own stone sculpture – and, of course, take it home after five days.
