Elisabeth Hesemans
Bio:
Elisabeth graduated as a drama teacher and director from the Theaterschool in Arnhem in 1995. She is an acting coach and has worked on more than 80 Dutch feature films and series. She gives for more than 15 years workshops on camera acting and how to make a short film. And also workshops/master classes for novice directors on how to direct children.
Elisabeth also worked as an acting coach on the films RAFIKI and A TUG OF WAR in Africa. Rafiki has won many awards around the world. Until 2022 Elisabeth was active as acting coach and casting director at Elskes Kast, a casting agency especially for children & youth. The children’s series KABAM! was developed from an idea by Elisabeth and was also her directorial debut. KABAM! won an International EMMY (November 22022 in New York in the category: Kids Live Action. In addition, the series won a Golden Lion Award for Best Dutch Series at the 2021 Cinekid Festival and the 2022 BUMA Music Award in Best Original Media Composition for TV series ( Boelie Vis). KABAM! was selected for multiple festivals, including the 2022 JEF youth festival Belgium, Cinema in Sneakers festival in Poland (special mention Kids jury), Prix Jeunesse International Germany, the Boston International Kids Film Festival (November 2022 ) and Chicago (2nd prize, November 2022).
