Drag is playing! Playing with transformation; shape-shifting in appearance, physical form and gender – even beyond the human form. A transformation you can use to make an artistic statement, challenge conventions, or bring a character to life. Drag is queer, liberating, empowering and increasingly coming into the spotlight. Drag performers use different art forms and creative skills. From creating looks with make-up to costume design and from styling, to different performance forms (dance, spoken word, lip sync, and stand-up comedy).
Let’s do drag!
We will transform while playing by experimenting with make-up, costumes and movement. We will do this as a group, but also individually by creating an alter ego. We will work with camp, DIY design methods, with materials we recycle. We will move and play with embodying a new personality. We will challenge each other to create bigger-than-life, characters that at the end of the week, will go wild on the catwalk!
