Please note: in block 3 the early class on Friday evening will focus on Popping and the later class on Locking!
Learn the funk styles Popping and Locking during this class!
Popping is a dance style known for ‘the robot moves and waves’. The movements are mainly in tightening and relaxing the muscles to the rhythm of the music. This style makes great use of isolations in the body and different textures in movements.
Locking is a very playful dance style where self-expression and self-love in this case dance is very important. In the body, a lot of use is made of bounces, wrist rolls and points. The movements can often be a bit bigger and faster to show dynamics in the dance.
What will we be doing?
We try to mimic a certain concept as much as possible; for example, we have techniques like Boogaloo, a style that uses a lot of rotations in the body to give a flowing effect. But also Tutting, a style that uses a lot of angular shapes with the arms.
