Please note! For summer week courses, registrations close at 12:00 on the Monday before the start of the course (one week before the start). It is then decided whether the course has enough participants to go ahead. So, make sure to register on time!
This course is for everyone who is interested in becoming a songwriter, how to develop your craft, how to use it as a tool for reflection, and how you can be endlessly fascinated with the magic of capturing the essence of your emotional life in the art of song.
What will you be doing?
Firstly, we will create a songwriter circle, which will be a place where we can share our song ideas, thoughts, doubts, or fears. Every day, we will use this circle to check in with the progress of our work, ask questions, or give feedback. This will become our Ground Zero.
All through the week, you will get tips and tricks that can help enhance your craft and, most importantly, allow you to find your very own voice. We will have co-writing sessions where you’ll team up with other participants, creating small songwriting groups where you can get inspired and share ideas (and maybe write a hit!).
We will have sessions analysing the meaning of songs, stripping them apart, and incorporating the skills into your own work. Each day, I will teach another element of songwriting and give exercises you can try out during the week. These exercises will be in various categories such as:
– Lyrics
– Song Structure
– Composition
– Rhythm
The goal is for you to gain concrete new tools, the feeling of community, and a support network from our songwriter circle. Gain confidence in your creative journey as a songwriter and learn that it doesn’t have to be a completely lonely and solitary experience. Sharing ideas and being open to input from other songwriters can be the key to finishing your songs. By the end of the week, I hope you will go away with a feeling that songwriting can be many things. It can be fun and play, or even a way of coping with your own life experiences.
