Please note! For summer week courses, registrations close at 12:00 on the Monday before the start of the course (one week before the start). It is then decided whether the course has enough participants to go ahead. So, make sure to register on time!
Majolica is a glazing technique for applying decorations to ceramics. This way of working is a centuries-old craft and that is a nice delay in all the hustle and bustle around us, especially nowadays.
What will we be doing?
To get a free hand in painting and to learn to work with flowing colours, a lesson in watercolour on paper is a good basis. We will also work with large Chinese brushes and black ink to learn to balance the drawing. The history of decoration techniques is also discussed, think for example of Delfts Blue and Harlingen tile work. A very relaxing outing to the Hortus Botanicus halfway through the course week will provide welcome inspiration. We will work towards a piece of utility ceramic decorated with our own painting, and there will be time for origami and even a beautiful packaging of the work will receive attention.
