Civilians are the ones who suffer the most in conflict situations. War tears families as well as children’s life apart. In light of this, one specific and too common incident is the issue of children being militarily trained and used as soldiers. This event will seek to raise awareness and give insights into this topic through a panel discussion involving different academics and NGO’s representatives. This will be followed by a Q&A for a more inclusive and interactive part of the evening.
UNICEF student team Amsterdam is composed of voluntary students, who work two-dimensionally. First, we seek to raise funds for a project changing each year. This year, the attained resources go to a project in Jordan in which young refugees are taught 21st century skills to facilitate and improve future work prospects and social integration. Second, We work to increase awareness about children’s, women and human rights in the Amsterdam community through hosting talks (such as the one tonight), discussions and monthly movie nights. More information about past events and specific upcoming events are/can be found on Facebook: « Unicef Student team Amsterdam ». We look forward to meeting and debating with you!
