Please note: this course is available in two versions. You can register for the course on location at CREA or you can register for the online version which you can do from home. The content of both options is the same. Below, we will indicate how the online course differs from the physical course.
Electronic music exists in many forms – from techno, ambient, deep house, minimal, electronica, dubstep, techno-house, hip hop and acid to more exotic forms – and can be summarised as all music in which electronic sounds and beats play a role.
The Netherlands is internationally known for its export product: Dutch dance music. In this course, we will also look across borders: what happens in Berlin and London, for example?
What will you do?
You will learn to create electronic music on the computer, i.e. to compose, produce and creatively manipulate it. Step-by-step, in a well-founded and creative manner, you will learn to use the software package Ableton Live. The course is suitable for upcoming producer talents, creative laptop DJs and singer-songwriters who want to record and support their songs electronically.
How will we proceed?
If you register for the online course, you work from home on your own computer. To work on your music at home, all you need is a corner of a table and a computer, headphones and webcam. We have made special agreements with Ableton who will make the software available to all students free of charge during the corona crisis until the summer. You will receive a special code with which you can download the software to your computer and use it for several months free of charge. If you wish, every student can buy the software at a discount during the course.
The physical course is taught in CREA. The Ableton Live software is available on CREA Macs during the lessons.
