When it comes to improv, there is an emphasis on moving freely through the space available, and moving freely in your own body. It is about not having to think too hard about dance moves, but being able to surrender to the music and to your own movement, but also exploring personal movement patterns and habits, and breaking these habits to free up more potential.
What will you be doing?
Using a variety of dance-exercises, you will be exploring and enlarging the arsenal(stockpile) of your movement. You will be working with technical themes of movement, such as using tempo, use of space, taking up more space and using power and flow.
You will learn to become more aware of your body through moving with your body and from your body. You will not only be moving solely from differing parts of your body, but also with the body as a whole. Your senses, your bones, and your muscles shall be used as inspiration, but also elements such as water, air, fire and earth.
There will be ample time to work individually and becoming acquainted with the material in your own time. You will also be delving into the subject matter in pairs, threes and fours. Working together is a large component of these lessons.
