This course is about simple printing techniques (e.g. etching) and the cross-over with digital media. The boundary between graphic design and autonomous graphics is an exciting subject. Is a poster or a package autonomous and can you call it art? Since the 20th century, many artists have been working on this boundary, such as Pop Art.
What are we going to do?
You will be given specific assignments to link old printing techniques to contemporary image processing possibilities. Your own – handmade – source material is the starting point for a design adventure in which text and function are linked to the charms of – self printed – imagery. In this course you will create your own line of designs that will take the shape of, for example, posters, packaging and other applied expressions. Classic visual elements are discussed and applied to give your work even more eloquence.
Walk-In-Studio Model Drawing
