Bio:
As a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher, Vainergill Thurnim (1997, Amsterdam) focuses on connecting people by highlighting similarities and celebrating differences. Dance is a powerful tool to create empathy for human emotions and experiences. Vainergill strives to create a space where people feel seen and heard.
In 2020, Vainergill graduated from the Academy of Theatre and Dance, Department of Dance Teacher. Her artistic journey began earlier with a with preparatory and MBO education at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. Thanks to this broad background in both commercial and contemporary dance, she has developed a unique style, incorporating influences from West African dance aesthetics. This allows her to experiment limitlessly with movement and expression.
Throughout her early career, she has had the privilege of working with renowned choreographers such as Alida Dors and Roshanak Morrowatian, as well as with prestigious theatres such as Frascati, Podium Mozaïek and CC Amstel. She also collaborates with organisations such as Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA), Danstheater AYA and DOX, further expanding her artistic network and repertoire.
