A creative and playful introduction to the craft of ceramics. In this course, you’ll take an idea from your imagination and shape it into a fired and coloured ceramic sculpture.
What will you be doing?
Through a series of creative assignments, you’ll explore and learn various sculpting techniques. Most of the time you’ll work individually, but occasionally in groups. One example is using a daily object—like a piece of fruit—as a starting point for your sculpture.
You’ll practice:
– Building hollow forms
– Rolling and constructing with clay slabs
– Combining techniques to create your own unique work
You’ll finish your pieces using engobes or glaze, adding colour and character to your creations.
