Student Event Fund
Student Event Fund
Organise your own event at CREA!
CREA offers students the opportunity to organise their own events! Through the CREA Student Event Fund, we provide free use of the theatre or music hall, including an experienced all-round technician. The event will be included in CREA’s programme and we will also provide promotional support.
The most important condition is that the event must be public, organised by and for students, and free of charge.
In recent years, CREA has organised many events in collaboration with student organisations, such as the CIA lectures by SIB-Amsterdam (Dutch United Nations Student Association), Dutch Movie Nights by Erasmus Student Network Amsterdam (ESN) and the Clothes Swap by Particolarte, AEGEE, ASVA and Students for Sustainability Amsterdam (SFSA).
So, do you have a great idea for an event? Anything can be organised, whether you represent a student organisation or are an individual student with a good idea. At CREA, you will have the opportunity to bring your plans to life. Below you will find more information and a form to submit an application!
The CREA Student Event Fund is made possible in 2026 by the UvA Fund.

What does CREA offer?
CREA offers special support for students with a good idea:
- Free hall rental: CREA will make the theatre hall available at no rental cost for approximately 4 hours.
- Technical support: an experienced all-round technician will be present during the event.
- Promotional support: the event will be included in CREA’s programme and CREA can help promote your event.
General info
• The CREA Event Fund will be able to approve approximately 18 applications in 2026. First come, first served.
• The theatre and music hall are often used for courses and/or room rentals, which always take precedence over Student Events. The theatre hall is often available on Monday evenings, so applications for those evenings will be given preference. Other evenings are always possible in consultation. See the available dates on the right.
• The average start time for Student Events is 19:00 hrs on Monday evenings.
Conditions for participation
- Target audience: the event you wish to organise must be public and for and by students.
- Free admission: the event is free to attend, unless explicitly agreed otherwise with a CREA employee.
- Inclusive: CREA aims to be an organisation where everyone can feel at ease.
- Costs and budget: CREA sponsors the venue and technician from the CREA Student Event Fund. If there are other costs involved in organising your event (such as paying speakers, paying copyright fees or promoting your event online), these costs are to be covered by the initiator of the event.
- Promotion/PR: you are responsible for writing an appealing description and creating a poster/image for the event and promoting it through your own channels. Indicate in the application how you intend to reach your target audience.
- Mention: the CREA Student Event Fund must be mentioned in all communications about the event, for example by stating “made possible by the CREA Student Event Fund” and using the logo.
- Student organisations that receive support from the Student Event Fund must explicitly state this if they also submit an application to the UvA Fund for their plans.
- Commitment: CREA uses resources to provide a platform for new initiatives. In exchange, we expect the organising party to invest time and energy in organising the event. So think carefully in advance about whether you have time to organise an entire event alongside your busy student life.
- Deadlines:
- Application: at least 6 weeks before the intended date of the event.
- Information and PR: to be submitted no later than 4 weeks in advance.
- (Financial) report: as with all fund applications, you must also send a report detailing all expenses including their reasoning and photos to the CREA event fund afterwards. Please do this within 2 weeks after the event. If you fail to do so, we will be obliged to send you an invoice for the amount granted.
