Collective art is art that is created collectively. It can be found in abundance in community and street art, but also from gatherings of artists through the ages. Collective art is often initiated to express a current problem or issue and to reinforce a point of view. As a result, it is often used in an activist way.
What will we be doing?
In this course, we will go on an expedition into the present in search of collective art in our own city. Here, we take Cadavre Exquis by the Surrealists as a starting point. We will explore the zeitgeist and enter into a dialogue with each other, simultaneously creating joint art in the classical manner (paper) of the Surrealists and in the contemporary manner (art-kite/banner) of the Hope Box (HBX) project.
