Do stirring rhythms make your heart beat faster, and can’t you keep still with Brazilian vibes? Join the samba band!
Brazilian rhythms have had a large influence on jazz, pop and dance for decades. Think of well-known artists such as Michael Jackson (They Don’t Really Care About Us) and Paul Simon (Obvious Child) who both made global hits together with Olodum, one of the largest groups from Brazil. Listen to those glorious, sultry jazz tones of Stan Getz, for example, who completely embraced the bossa nova. And don’t forget contemporary popular DJs such as Black Coffee, who like to incorporate Brazilian vibes in their set.
What will you be doing?
Using instruments such as the surdo, caixa, timba, repinique and many others, you will be familiarising yourself with this world of catchy grooves. The contagious rhythms are easy to listen to and an absolute delight to play with a group.
