Attention: in block 3 part of the Thursday lesson will be taught by Siena Verber.
This course is similar to the one previously called Modern Jazz II (by Feadan).
During the Modern Jazz classes at CREA, you will be working on the isolated movement of body parts, dynamics, rhythm, and switching direction and form.
What will you be doing?
The classes will start off with a warm-up, stretching exercises and technical exercises. Following this you will be learning a choreography that will be performed during the final presentations in the Theatre of CREA.
During Feadan’s dance class you will be working with themes such as center, balance, power, length, flows and grooves, rhythm and the use of the floor. Feadan also puts emphasis on having the students explore their own language in dance during freestyle sessions, through the use of different methods of practice.
In Siena’s classes you will dive into various aspects of dance such as floorwork, composition, (contact) improvisation and choreography. You will do this using different tools like Siena’s movement language – which is fluid, grounded and groovy, while also awakening your own creativity and way of dancing. Siena focusses on creating a safe and playful group dynamic, as she finds this one of the most important and fun aspects of dance – you will grow collectively and individually. The class always starts with a moment to ground yourself, to arrive in the space and empty the mind.
