Nowadays, Argentinian tango is danced all over the world. It is a physical conversation between two people, with boundless opportunities to improvise and express yourself. Because the dance originated in the social nightclub-setting of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, at the start of the previous century, it is suitable for everyone. Every single person dances differently, and so no single tango will be danced the same way twice.
What will you be doing?
In this beginners-course, you will be learning the foundation you need to improvise step-by-step, the movements on which 90% of the dance comprises. You will learn the basic principles of both leading and following to understand the structure of the dance. We will take the ‘tango salon’ as our groundwork, which is the tango that is danced in the salons (milongas) of Buenos Aires, and not the show dancing which can often be seen in theatres.
