In this course, you will get acquainted with different materials such as pencil, charcoal, pastel and ink. You will work by observation to train eye-hand coordination and use photos as sample material.
What will we be doing?
Explore the benefits of studies and sketches and find out how to develop them into a final result! You will make line drawings but also learn how to create more greyscale and suggestion by exploiting the light-dark contrast. Ultimately, you focus on individuality and style and how the drawn line works as a handwriting.
You will create studies of nature, portrait, still life, model, or be assigned to work from a particular technique or material. We work mainly with black and white materials (charcoal, chalk, pencil, pen and ink) but colour is certainly not forbidden. Assignments are group-based, but individual guidance will be provided as much as possible.
Please note: course fees now include a fee for models.
